About
Neil Michael Patterson
b. August 4, 1978
Manchester, CT – 1978
Neil was born the second child to Amy & Ralph Patterson in Manchester, CT on August 4, 1978. The birth of Neil was followed by a younger brother making Neil the middle child of two boys, Alan (the eldest) and Brian (the youngest). All sons were 3 years apart.
Enfield, CT – 1983
Neil lived in Manchester throughout his toddler years before moving to Enfield, CT where Neil’s father taught elementary school music. The Patterson family would spend 16 years in Enfield. Neil was a talented artist and often spent hours alone drawing in pencil and had a knack for recreating Ansel Adams black and white photography in pencil.
Although, Neil was a gifted artist, he strived in math and science as well. Never thinking he’d ever do anything creative in college, he focused his attention to science with hopes of becoming a Physician’s Assistant. Dreams were crushed Junior year of High School after a day of shadowing a Physician in the ER at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Somers, CT. When a patient arrived with a severed finger, Neil discovered medicine was not his calling.
Keene, NH – 1996
After graduating High School with honors, Neil headed to Keene State College in Keene, NH. Despite the advice of the high school guidance counselor, Neil decided to study Graphic Design. It seemed that since art was not the focus of most of his High School electives, the guidance department suggested that he would never excel as a design student. They were wrong. In fact, he did great and spent hours in the studio and often more time on art projects than design projects. Neil often comments that what he misses most about college, was the access to the art studios, the photography dark rooms and printmaking labs.
South Windsor, CT – 2001
While in school, Neil’s parents relocated to South Windsor, CT. While moving back with parents, Neil landed his first job as a graphic producer, manipulating product images for a Womans clothing store known as Casual Corner. Although this was an easy job, Neil was quickly moved into other areas of the company working on graphic work for the company’s three main websites. This sparked the flame and interest in web development and internet web applications.
Meriden, CT – 2002
While working for Retail Brand Alliance, Neil moved to Meriden with then girlfriend and her daughter Jordan. Neil grew tired of being under appreciated and underpaid at RBA
Wilton, NH – 2003
Neil resigned at RBA and moved back to NH with Jessica and Jordan and took a full time Graphic Design job at Time Frame, Inc. which he interned at in college. During their two year residence in Wilton, NH (a town with one traffic light… blinking yellow), Jess & Neil were married in 2004 and shortly after Neil & Jess were expecting another child in the Patterson family.
Meriden, CT – 2005
Immediately following the birth of Olivia Rose, the Pattersons moved back to CT taking up residence in South Windsor for a few months and settling in Meriden. Neil worked freelance for a few months then accepted a job as Web Developer at OR-Live, Inc. Not too much later Tristan Thomas was born in August of 2006.
Ellington, CT – 2009
In February of 2009, Jess and Neil bought their first home. A modest Cape in Ellington, CT in a quiet neighborhood. The end of 2009 marked the end of Neil’s time at ORLive, Inc. when January 2010 he started a new exciting position at Finalsite in East Hartford. Finalsite creates web software for schools and colleges using many new web technologies and approaches. Neil continues to grow and expand on his exciting career in web development.
